How PDF tools work
Select files in the vault
In the file list, select one or more files (for bulk operations). Right-click or use the action panel to open the "PDF Tools" menu.
Choose operation and settings
Select the desired operation — conversion, OCR, compression, watermark, password, merge, or split. Each operation has its own configuration.
Claudyx processes in background
For a single file, the result appears instantly (within seconds). For bulk operations, Claudyx processes in the background and notifies you by email or in-app when done.
Result saved to vault
The processed file is saved as a new version or alongside the original. The original is always available in version history. No data leaves your vault.
All available operations
Convert to PDF
DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, ODT, TXT, RTF, HTML, JPG, PNG, TIFF → PDF. Preserves formatting, fonts, and tables.
OCR — Text Extraction
Creates a searchable document with a text layer from scanned PDFs or images. Supports Czech and English.
PDF Compression
Reduce PDF size for email or archiving. Three levels: light, medium, aggressive. Typically −40 to −80% size reduction.
Merge PDFs
Combine multiple PDFs into one document. Drag to set page order. Result saved as a new file.
Split PDF
Split PDF by page or ranges (1-5, 6-10…). Each result saved as a separate file.
Watermark
Text or logo as a transparent layer on every page. Variables: {{name}}, {{date}}, {{company}}. Font, size, angle, opacity configurable.
Password Protection
Encrypt PDF with AES-256 password to open, or restrict printing, copying, and editing.
Page Extraction
Select specific pages or ranges and extract them as a new PDF file.
Why not use online PDF converters
ilovepdf, smallpdf, Adobe Acrobat Online — these tools upload your file to their servers. For contracts, NDAs, and financial documents, that's a security risk.
Files stay with you
PDF operations run on Cloudflare Workers — no third party accesses your files. Data never leaves your vault.
Audit trail
Every PDF operation is recorded in the audit log — who, when, what was processed. For compliance and internal audits.
Integrated into workflow
PDF tools are part of the vault — no window switching, no manual export and import. One environment for everything.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to upload files to an external server for PDF operations? +
No. All PDF operations (conversion, OCR, compression, watermarks, passwords, merge, split) run inside Claudyx infrastructure. Your files never leave your environment — no third parties (ilovepdf, smallpdf, etc.) access your documents.
How accurate is OCR text recognition? +
The OCR module uses Tesseract with image pre-processing. For standard scanned documents (contracts, invoices, letters) it achieves 95–99% accuracy for both Czech and English. Handwritten text or poor-quality scans may produce lower accuracy. The result is always a searchable PDF with a text layer — the original is preserved.
What formats can be converted to PDF? +
Claudyx handles conversion from DOCX, DOC, XLSX, XLS, PPTX, PPT, ODT, ODS, ODP (LibreOffice formats), TXT, RTF, HTML, and images (JPG, PNG, TIFF, BMP). The output is always PDF/A or standard PDF.
What is a bulk operation and how do I trigger it? +
A bulk operation applies the same action (compression, watermark, OCR, password) to dozens or hundreds of files at once. In the vault, select multiple files, click "PDF Tools," and choose the action. Claudyx processes files in the background and notifies you when done.
Can I add watermarks with variable text (recipient name)? +
Yes. A watermark can contain static text or variables — {{name}}, {{date}}, {{company}}. When bulk sending, each recipient receives a PDF with a watermark containing their own name. Font, size, opacity, position, and angle are all configurable.
What happens to files after processing? +
The processed file is saved to the vault — either replacing the original (if you allow it) or created as a new version alongside the original. The original is always available in the version history. You never lose the original.
